Message from the Chief of Police

Chief Tony Tomlinson started his career in 2004 at the Brooklyn PD. As the Chief of Police for the Village of Brooklyn, it is my honor to serve our community with the same dedication and commitment that defined my 24 years of service in the United States Army. Having retired from the Army with the rank and experience that comes from decades of leadership and discipline, I bring those same values—integrity, accountability, and respect to the Brooklyn Police Department.

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, which has strengthened my understanding of law enforcement principles, criminal law, and community engagement. This combination of military service and academic knowledge shapes my approach to building a department that is professional, transparent, and responsive to the needs of our residents.

Our mission is clear: to protect and serve the people of Brooklyn through fair enforcement of the law, active partnerships with the community, and a relentless focus on safety. I believe in leading by example and fostering a culture where every officer understands that public trust is earned through our daily actions.

Together, we will continue to make Brooklyn a safe, welcoming, and thriving place for all.
